As part of the Detailed Engineering Department Team at BAIPRO IngenierÃa & Construcción S.A., I develop myself as a Mechanical & Piping Designer.
My area of focus is conception, i.e. 3D modeling and design validation, where safety, ease of operation and maintenance and cost efficiency are top priorities.
In addition, I am involved in documents generation making sure that every piece of information needed for construction is included.
Having the opportunity to create a design from scratch gives you the ability to control every aspect of design. However, the challenge comes when having
to modify an existing installation to meet new production requirements or update the system to new standards. Is within the limitations where one has to be
more creative and think outside the box to guarantee a safe and efficient operation without compromising the normal operation of existing facilities.
In that regard, one of the most challenging projects was the design of two pressure relief lines on top of a 60 meter tall existing depropanizer tower, due to
the impossibility of adding new pipe support lugs to the column shell, as well as the limited physical space available. The project required a complete study
of the static and dynamic response of the system as a whole, including the tower itself and its top platform structure. With the guidance of the Senior stress
Engineers, I was able to validate the pipeline trace as well as its associated supports and anchor points.
